Jonny & Abi: A Proper Suffolk Celebration at Henham Barns

There was a great energy at Jonny and Abi’s wedding at Henham Barns. It didn't feel like a stiff, formal event; it felt like a massive catch-up with friends and family who had travelled from all over to be there.

I love working at Henham Barns; it's easily one of the best wedding venues in the Southwold area, and as a Suffolk wedding photographer, I'm always excited to head back there

The Morning Routine: Parkrun & Guinness

The day started in the most balanced way possible. Jonny and the boys kicked things off with a Parkrun before heading back to Lime Tree House on the grounds of Henham. By the time I arrived, the running gear was long gone, replaced by a full breakfast and a few rounds of Guinness. It was a completely relaxed morning, just a group of mates hanging out and catching up before the suits went on.

Over at the cottage, Abi and her bridesmaids were in the middle of hair and makeup with Hayley Holiday and Cara Hubbard, and the mood was just as good, plenty of Champagne and a lot of laughs while everyone got ready.

Styling the Barn

Henham Barns is a fantastic space, but it’s huge, and styling it right makes all the difference. Smoke and Wildwood absolutely nailed it. They installed massive hanging ivy boards right above the long trestle tables. Combined with the lighting from Quirk Events, it completely transformed the room, making the high timber beams feel intimate and bringing a lush, green feel to the flint barn.

After the ceremony, we escaped the crowds for a bit to get some photos of the two of them on the 'Latitude bridge'. It’s such an iconic spot on the estate, and it gave them a few minutes to actually breathe and take everything in before the reception went into overdrive.

The ABBA Finale

Once the sun went down and Funnell’s Kitchen had finished dinner service, any lingering formality went out the window. The absolutely fantastic ABBA Stars took over the stage, and the dance floor was packed instantly. Between the light-up shutter shades, and the sheer volume of the singalongs, it was easily one of the best wedding parties I’ve seen in a long time.

It was just a top-tier day from start to finish, no fuss, great people, and a hell of a celebration.
